In the wisdom of ancient yoga, it is understood that within our being lie chakras, or energetic torus centres. By focusing our meditation, with intention, on these internal points, and by vocalizing specific mantras or playing certain frequency sounds, we can engage with frequencies that resonate with various facets of our existence (encompassing the physical, emotional, and spiritual realms). These resonant vibrations have the potential to shift and elevate the energy within our chakras, and through intentional practice, we can facilitate the movement and transformation of energies that may be stagnant or operating at a lower vibration.
The alignment of chakras with certain frequencies can be understood through the analogy of a rope tied to a tree trunk. When one end of the rope is shaken, a wave travels along its length to its base, similar to how the vibration of a sound frequency can travel and activate a chakra or energy centre within us, thus affecting certain aspects of your physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Intention and engagement with these energy centres is considered an integral part of the process.
Western culture has undertstood chakras as also connected to different dimensions of our experience, such as emotions, safety and security, sexuality, love, mental clarity, communication, self confidence, psychic abilities, and healing. By mastering the ability to control and develop these energy centers, one can potentially access higher frequency states. In other words, a well-functioning chakra sets up a frequency that allows access to higher octaves of energy and higher dimensions of consciousness.
Seers and yogis, through dedicated practice, identified certain frequencies of the energy body that correspond to universal sound and the chakras. They could visualize the chakras and their petals, understanding the intricate relationship between sound frequencies and the energy centers. Today, we are relearning this ancient wisdom.
It is said that the crossing of vibrant lines of electromagnetism at specific points creates forces that manifest the characteristics of each chakra. These forces and frequencies then give rise to the phenomena we perceive as the five elements, which are associated with the lower chakras and form the building blocks of our physical existence.
The chakras also resonate with the energy of the directions we face, influencing us on energetic, emotional, and mental levels. This concept is found in various traditions, including the Mayan system of yoga, which relates the chakras to the cardinal directions.
By working with the inner world of the chakras through breathing patterns, meditation, sound, light, and sacred geometry, ancient peoples were able to forge a deep connection with higher consciousness and the upper realms. This connection affirmed their place within the oneness of the universe, aligning with the one consciousness that pervades all.
In modern times, we understand colours are different frequencies of vibrating electromagnetic energy, and this concept has been applied to the chakras, each associated with a specific color and frequency:
1. Root Chakra (Muladhara) मूलाधार - Color: Red; this chakra is located at the base of the spine and is associated with our sense of safety, security, and grounding.
2. Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana) स्वाधिष्ठान - Color: Orange; the sacral chakra is located just below the navel and is connected to our emotions, creativity, and sexuality.
3. Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) मणिपूर - Color: Yellow; this chakra is situated in the upper abdomen and is associated with our personal power, self-esteem, and willpower.
4. Heart Chakra (Anahata) अनाहत - Color: Green; the heart chakra is located in the center of the chest and represents our ability to love, empathize, and connect with others.
5. Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) विशुद्ध - Color: Blue; this chakra is located in the throat and is associated with communication, self-expression, and our ability to speak our truth.
6. Third Eye Chakra (Ajna) आज्ञा - Color: Indigo; the third eye chakra is situated in the center of the forehead and is linked to our intuition, imagination, and higher consciousness.
7. Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) सहस्रार- Color: Violet/White; this chakra is located at the top of the head and represents our connection to the divine, spiritual enlightenment, and our ability to transcend the physical realm.
The Shat Chakras, or the six body chakras (excluding the crown), in the yoga system, are vibrational vortexes along the spine. Each chakra's rate of vibration behaves as a distinct energy, manifesting unique characteristics and influencing our physical and subtle bodies.
Understanding and working with these energies allows for a harmonization of the physical and spiritual aspects of our being. The practice of aligning and balancing the chakras can lead to a more attuned and spiritually aware existence, opening pathways to psychic abilities and the ability to resonate with higher states of consciousness.
In summary, the chakras are not just theoretical constructs but are dynamic energy centers that can be influenced and harmonized through various practices. By engaging with these vibrational frequencies, one can potentially unlock deeper levels of healing, awareness, and spiritual growth.
